Importance of POSH training for Employees and Management in a Company

The PoSH (Prevention of Sexual harassment Act) law seeks to empower women to fight against sexual harassment at the workplace. Over the years, the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act has helped many women in getting justice for the cases of sexual harassment they have faced in the workplace. However, it has also become a threatening tool for some women to extort money from their organisation’s management through malicious PoSH complaints. There is sometimes a lack of awareness among employees which can lead to unwanted cases of sexual misconduct. Also, many organisations do not know how to set up a proper POSH complaint redressal system or constitute an internal complaints committee. Even the HR department needs to be aware of proper handling of the complaints that come to them and screening false complaints before sending them to ICC. The companies also need to submit details of complaints resolved by their ICC on an annual basis to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
